CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten runs the numbers of the week: from Florida redistricting to US interest in the royal family.
The inflation under Biden was higher but it was due to complex factors related to supply chain issues and an overheated economy that world leaders had been juicing to try to keep it from going into a deep recession during Covid. Inflation under Trump is due entirely to his picking a fight with Iran and its closure of the Straight of Hormuz. The CNN anchor tries really hard to make Biden look equally culpable, but there's no comparison between the two situations. Trump created this mess and he has no idea how to clean it up.

And stop being muleheaded with tariffs, and let congress figure out what, when, in which form, over what time horizon and for which industries we need to use them to bring the supply chain back into the country. It can be achieved but not with seat of the pants bully tactics. Building factories takes years and motivation to do so comes from bipartisan certainty, with tariffs guaranteed to be gradually imposed over a period of years to avoid inflation and only on critical supply chains, not immediately before the factories have a chance to be built.
